About Longfellow 45-15 Elementary School

Longfellow 45-15 Elementary is an elementary school serving approximately 320 students in grades K-5 in southeast Rochester, Minnesota within the Rochester Public Schools (RPS). The population of learners has a vibrant richness of diversity representing an array countries and cultures from around the world.

Longfellow 45-15 Elementary School follows a 45-15 instructional calendar with school beginning the last week of July, following a six-week summer vacation. Students attend school each of the four instructional quarters for approximately 45 days followed by 15 days of vacation with minimal four-day weeks due to holidays. During each 15 day break, students are provided the opportunity to attend math and reading intervention classes (intersession) in the morning for one week in October, January and in March. School Age Child Care (SACC) and 21st Century Community Learning Center Program offer enrichment activities during the remainder of the break for approximately two-thirds of our student population. The intersession classes are taught by Longfellow staff, where student to teacher ratio is low, to providing direct individualized instruction in a focused environment.

We hope you are all just as excited as we are to work together to offer encouragement and support for your child during this school year, and as a result see academic and social growth in your child.

We believe that a strong partnership between families and staff is essential to inspire, challenge and empower our students. We need your support to assist your child in attending school regularly and on time. We invite you to play an active role in your child’s education. Ask questions, come to events and show your child that school and learning are the keys to success!
